JAMBANA One World Festival is back August 5th & 6th in new location in Brampton
JAMBANA One World Festival will mark its 10-year anniversary this August 5th and 6th with two fun-filled days of tropical summer programming for all ages in Brampton. This is Canada’s one-of-a-kind music, arts and food festival celebrating the nation’s growing cultural diversity. Fans of Reggae, Afrobeat, Soca, Dancehall, Gospel, Dance and Comedy can expect to be entertained across two days of jam-packed programming, complemented by delicious food and interesting vendors and activities. “The move to the Rose Theatre and the CAA Centre (formerly Powerade Centre) has allowed us to provide seated venues, as well as concepts that are better suited indoors, and some ‘rain or shine’ assurance for our programming,” says Denise Jones, Executive Producer of JAMBANA One World Festival. The Rose Theatre is up first, on Sunday August 5th from 7:30pm – 11:30pm, and will feature Reggae Ambassadors Third World Band and global dancehall sensation Govana as special guests, amongst Canada’s premiere Reggae Showcase. JUNO Award winners Kirk Diamond and Korexion, JUNO Award nominee Jay Harmony, 2017’s JAMBANA IDOL winner Hattaman, Montreal’s Kaisha Lee, Toronto’s Visionary, Canada’s Tony Anthony, and the all-female Reggae band Raysolution will take the stage. The CAA Centre will enjoy an earlier start and a complementary vibe on Monday August 6th from 1pm - 10pm. Ghana’s GRAMMY Award nominated Afrobeat, dancehall and reggae maestro Stonebwoy is headlining, along with GRAMMY Award nominees Luciano and Marion Hall (formerly Lady Saw), as well as JUNO Award winner Exco Levi, and JUNO Award nominees Ammoye, Blessed and Eyesus. |

Young Avin on the drum sets at this summer's knockout Chutney program.
A new mega Toronto event entitled "Chutney on the Grass" kicked off the summer season at the Wildwood Park in Mississauga on Canada Day, July 1. The program featured the full Wave Band under the leadership of Omesh Singh with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business, such as Terry Gajraj, Sushma Rajpaul, Randy Bhagwandin, Mala Haripersaud, Steve Mohabir, Navin Yankarran along with DJ Impulse. There was also live dances by the Footsteps Dance School and live Tassa Music by the All Stars group. Twelve-year old Avin Singh, son of Omesh, made his public debut on the drum sets and he showed why, like his father, there's a future for him in the entertainment field. There was grand entertainment for everyone attending and no lack of participation. The songs were infectious and the throbbing beats brought instantaneous response from the crowds who could not resist shaking a leg. The program is now referred to as "Grass" and promises to be a future summer opener. |
